New trees planted to help the environment

We have had a busy few months planting trees. It involved lots of digging, in lots of mud, given the wet winter that we experienced! Robert Holmes, the local Estate Agents are committed to improving the local environment in Merton. To that end, they donated six trees to Holland Garden as part of their "Thousand Tree Challenge". The trees were planted by our gardening volunteers during the winter of 2023/24 as agreed with Merton Council. The Friends had previously planted memorial trees for HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip, as well as several trees donated by local residents. As a result Holland Garden has received recognition in the Queen's Green Canopy initiative.
